The African Union Internship Program is a structured project that allows students and recent graduates from African Union member states to obtain hands-on experience in the operations of the AU and its many departments. It seeks to improve participants’ educational and professional growth through hands-on tasks, exposure to regional and worldwide issues, and involvement in policy and administrative activities. The program promotes a deeper understanding of the AU’s objective and contributes to the development and integration of the continent’s young professionals.

General Requirements:

  • Applicants must be in the final year of a bachelor’s degree program or possess a master’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Be African Union Member State nationals.
  • Must be full-time students in the final year of a bachelor’s or graduate program.
  • Be fluent in one of the African Union’s working languages (Arabic, English, French, or Portuguese).
  • Must be 32 years old or younger at the time of selection.
  • Maintain the greatest level of moral conduct and integrity.
  • Have not been convicted of any serious criminal offence, excluding minor traffic violations.
  • Prior work experience is not necessary for internship roles.
