JWTZ Tanzania is Tanzania’s People’s Defence Force. It is the national military force tasked with protecting the country’s sovereignty, maintaining peace and security, and assisting civilian authorities in times of crisis or natural disaster. JWTZ was formed in 1964, following the disbandment of the colonial-era King’s African Rifles following the Tanganyika Rifles uprising. The establishment of JWTZ signified a transition toward a more ideologically driven and people-oriented force, influenced by Tanzania’s socialist ideals under President Julius Nyerere.
JWTZ consists of various branches, including the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The force has contributed significantly to both Tanzania’s internal stability and regional peacekeeping activities. Tanzania, through JWTZ, has sent troops to several United Nations peacekeeping missions, including the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and Lebanon. The force is also noted for its discipline, professionalism, and devotion to humanitarian activities during calamities such as floods or epidemics in Tanzania.
JWTZ ROLES:
JWTZ serves a civic role in Tanzania. JKT is responsible for nation-building efforts like as infrastructure development, environmental protection, and youth training programs. JKT is a national service program that aims to instill patriotism, discipline, and practical skills among young Tanzanians. Overall, JWTZ is an important pillar of national unity and security, combining defence tasks with civic responsibilities to promote Tanzania’s growth and peace.

Requirements:
- Must be a Tanzanian citizen with a national ID.
- Physically and intellectually healthy, with no criminal record.
- Please provide your genuine birth certificates, as well as your academic and professional credentials.
- Must not have worked in the police force, prisons, training institutes, or anti-smuggling units.
- You must complete National Service (JKT) training and obtain a certificate.
