Tanzania National Roads body (TANROADS) is a government executive body that reports to the Ministry of Works and Transport and is in charge of developing and maintaining Tanzania’s trunk and regional roads. Established in 2000, TANROADS is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of the country’s key road infrastructure, which supports economic growth and regional connectivity. It guarantees that the national road network is safe, reliable, and capable of satisfying current and future transportation needs.

Position: Driver II – 2 Post

TANROADS also controls bridge building and maintenance, road safety measures, and the performance of contractors and consultants working on road projects. The agency makes substantial contributions to improving transportation efficiency, promoting trade, and increasing access to social services, particularly in rural areas. TANROADS continues to invest in road infrastructure that supports Tanzania’s larger aims of industrialization and inclusive development through collaboration with development partners and the private sector.

The Regional Manager, TANROADS Coast, on behalf of the Chief Executive of TANROADS, is looking for appropriately qualified and competent Tanzanians to fill vacant posts on a contract basis for a specified term (renewable).

Responsibilities:

  • To drive the agency’s motor vehicles.
  • To provide motor vehicle services.
  • To ensure the safety and hygiene of the vehicle.
  • To deliver and receive letters and merchandise.
  • To undertake additional related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • To Maintain a vehicle logbook.

Qualification:

  • Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE)
  • Basic Driving Course offered by VETA
  • Valid driving license with Grade C or E
  • At least one year of clean driving experience with a good track record

General Conditions:

  • Applicants must be citizens of Tanzania with an age not above 45 years.

  • Certificates from foreign examination bodies for Ordinary or Advanced level education should be verified by The National Examination Council of Tanzania (NECTA).
  • Certificates from foreign universities should be verified by The National Council for Technical Education (NACTE).

The government will calculate a qualified driver’s compensation using the TRDS 2.1 scale from the official salary structure for technical and operational professionals.
