Duties and Responsibilities of Credit Manager:
A) Analyze portfolio performance:
- Using data insights and direct outreach, high-risk consumers are identified and classified systematically.
- Identifying portfolio reflags and reporting them on time
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of risk indicators and portfolio performance measures.
- Monitoring regional/area trends and specific product performance to detect and apply corrective steps for bad trends.
B) Audit & Compliance:
- Conduct internal audits to detect process gaps and assure compliance with existing policies (underwriting, collection, welcome, repossession, change of details, etc.).
- Provide detailed results and effective risk mitigation recommendations.
C) Collections Interventions:
- Engage in proactive collecting techniques, such as guaranteeing KYC and underwriting strategies to improve the quality of clients onboarding.
- Develop, create, and implement field-based collecting methods through field teams to improve collections.
- Examine current policies and their impact on portfolio management, and suggest changes or updates based on market trends or field results.
- Pilot Management: Ensure that pilots in the field are adequately managed and tracked to satisfy the stated success metrics by engaging key stakeholders.
- Fraud management: Ensure that investigations into reported fraud cases are completed in a timely manner and cases are closed within the SLA.
- Reporting and documentation: Create detailed field reports that include data collection, process documentation, and operational insights. Maintain timely and accurate reporting of risk indicators and portfolio performance metrics.
- Conduct industry research, assess data insights, and create methods to boost Greenlight Planet Kenya Limited’s market position and maximise income in sales and collections.
- Any other tasks assigned by the credit lead/risk leadership team in respect to the function scope from time to time.
You Might be a Strong Candidate if you have:
I) Academic Qualification & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in finance, Risk Management or a related business field, over 5 years of related experience Preferably in the Audit/Risk/Credit/Analytics department, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role
- Other relevant certification in Credit Management or Business Analytics/Statistics/ Data/Computer Science is an added advantage.
- Significant knowledge of data collection, field surveys
- Excellent planning, organisational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail
II) Personal Attributes:
- Self-driven, flexible, can quickly adapt to change, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Clear thinking/problem-solving ability. Ability to spearhead/lead projects/process improvement within operations and drive positive change, being able to break down complex issues into simpler steps and resolve them
- Strong leadership skills to direct and motivate a team of professionals
- Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written expression.
- Stakeholder engagement and teamwork skills: Ability to work productively with key stakeholders, aligning efforts to deliver strong business results.
- Outstanding planning and organisational skills Ability to self-manage work with little oversight Willingness to spend 70% of the time in the field.
