Positions Available:

A. Assistant Agricultural Officers (45 Positions) – Responsibilities 

  • Educate farmers on optimum agricultural techniques for avocados, including land preparation, farm management, harvesting, value addition, storage, and market sales.
  • Educate and monitor the quality of raw avocados from field to warehouse.
  • Monitor and guarantee that producers use the finest avocado cultivation practices.
  • Prepare and submit weekly status reports on avocado cultivation in your allocated job area.
  • Prepare realistic input requirements for farmers, such as seeds and seedlings.
  • Update the digital database of avocado producers and other stakeholders, including input service providers, in the designated area.
  • Provide farmers with instruction on optimal avocado cultivation methods, such as the proper and safe use of pesticides.
  • Oversee avocado quality verification at the Primary Cooperative Society level (AMCOS).
  • Estimate raw avocado production depending on the number of avocado plants capable of producing during the season (crop projection).
  • Identify agriculture sector stakeholders in the designated work region and connect them with farmers who require their services.
  • Ensure that each farmer has a notebook to document the services provided by all stakeholders, including agricultural extension officers.
  • Work with local leaders to choose a lead farmer.
  • Provide information on additional crops grown by farmers in the village/area under supervision.
  • Assess avocado production in the allotted region at the conclusion of each season.
  • Perform any additional duties specified by your supervisor.

Qualification, Experience and Competencies:

  • A Tanzanian diploma-level agricultural graduate with a diploma in Agricultural Science (Agriculture General), Agronomy, Horticulture, or Crop Production and Management from a government-approved university.
  • Not now employed or previously terminated from public service.
  • Not been imprisoned for any criminal offence.
  • Be willing to work in different rural locations.
  • Be able to operate efficiently without supervision.
  • Be prepared to work under a temporary contract and receive the monthly allowances specified in the agreement.
  • Prepare to sign a performance-based contract for the specific season.
  • Experience in avocado cultivation is advantageous.

B. Agricultural Officer (5 Positions) – Responsibilities 

  • Educate farmers on optimum agricultural techniques for avocados, land preparation, farm management, harvesting, value addition, storage, and market sales.
  • Educate and monitor the quality of raw avocados from field to warehouse.
  • Monitor and guarantee that producers use the finest avocado cultivation practices.
  • Prepare and submit weekly status reports on avocado cultivation in your allocated job area.
  • Prepare and submit realistic input requirements for farmers, including seeds and seedlings.
  • Oversee and ensure that the supplied inputs in the designated area reach the growers and that they properly use them on avocado plantations.
  • Conduct small-scale field research and trials to evaluate improved seed varieties, fertilisers, and new technologies.
  • Update the digital database of avocado producers and other stakeholders, including input service providers, in the designated area.Oversee the distribution of subsidised avocado cultivation inputs provided by the government to growers in the designated area.
  • Provide farmers with instruction on optimal avocado cultivation methods, such as the proper and safe use of pesticides.
  • Oversee avocado quality verification at the Primary Cooperative Society level (AMCOS).
  • Estimate raw avocado production depending on the number of avocado plants capable of producing during the season (crop projection).
  • Identify agriculture sector stakeholders in the designated work region and connect them with farmers who require their services.

  • Be willing to work in different rural locations.
  • Be able to operate efficiently without supervision.
  • Be prepared to work on a temporary contract and get the monthly allowances indicated in the contract.
