Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in incident investigations and the creation of formal reports on results.
- Manage environmental regulatory compliance for all plant and mine operations.
- Ensure that environmental management initiatives, programs, processes, trainings, work practices, and controls are implemented and evaluated for efficacy and continuous improvement.
- To carry out approved environmental corrective actions to avert future occurrences.
- To gather, analyse, and keep accurate environmental records.
- Conduct frequent plant inspections to help the HSE Manager with environmental compliance.
- Create and deliver environmental information and training packages.
- Participate in DCLT HSE meetings and provide training as appropriate.
- Monitor and oversee contractor activities related to environmental performance.
- To ensure that proposed mitigation actions are implemented in accordance with the EIA and EA.
- Produce environmental reports for management as needed.
- Compile annual environmental monitoring and compliance reports.
Job Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in environmental science or equivalent, plus other professional skills in the field.
- Five or more years of experience in environmental functions.
- Certification/license from NEMC or another recognised HSE agency (Certified Environmental Expert will be advantageous).
- A good understanding of ISO 14001:2015 will be advantageous.
- Knowledge of the cement manufacturing industry will provide a benefit.
- Fluent in English and Swahili languages.
